bought the 1123 more than a year ago and they are really comfortable. my feet are wide with a high instep. I have always worn shoes with laces partualy laced up because the shoes seemed to narrow because of my high instep. the laces would barely close the shoe up enough to cover the tongue.then I was introduced to new balance and used 4e shoes untill I got the 1123 in 6e. they are pricey, but I demand american made products when possible. they are probably wider than my foot needs but they are great as far as lacing them up over my instep. I can lace them all the way up for the first time in my life. I love the feel and comfort. they got wet and now have a oder I can't get rid of. I've ordered a couple other styles including one that only went up to 4e,attempting to stick to american made, but they seemed too narrow. that brings me back to the 1123 because of it coming in 6e and being usa made. not to many choices in 6e. I hesitate because of the oder problem but I am ordering another pair because of lack of choices.

Both of my ankles have been broken. One surgically repaired. I have had a torn ACL and numerous strains and other tears. It was enormously important that I find a running shoe that provided maximum motion control and shock absorbance. I contacted NB experts and the 1123 was one of the options that I was given. My feet seem to lock in place as if they were locking into an orthopedic walking boot for reahabilitation. Initially, did feel a little discomfort in my mid foot tha lasted only momentarily. I honestly believe that this was just apart of making the adjustment. Seriously, I love this shoe. The mesh adhers to your feet like a light-weight sock, nice and snug with phenomenal control that "gives" just enough for extra comfort. My ankles are not rolling from side to side. I can easily adher to heal-to-toe motion. I recommend that runners with an under-pronated gait, flat arches, and previous severe ankle and lower extremity injuries purchase this shoe.
