Many New Balance shoes are made in one of six U.S. factories.
We are proud to provide jobs to the U.S. workforce, and proud of our high quality
associates who can compete with anyone in the world. Through their hard work, we
make many shoes in the U.S. despite competition from lower cost imports.
We are not able to obtain all materials for shoes in the U.S. Sometimes, supplies
are not available or economic and quality factors control the source. However,
New Balance remains committed to providing jobs for Americans and supporting U.S.
manufacturers and suppliers where possible.
What does it mean to say a product is "made in" the U.S.? This may
seem like a simple question, but the answer is not easy due to the global economy.
The Federal Trade Commission has tried to set these standards. The shoes produced
in our U.S. factories are made by U.S. workers using both U.S. and imported
materials. Where the level of U.S. value is at least 70%, we have labeled the
shoe "Made in USA." Where it falls below that level, we have qualified
it as containing both U.S. and imported materials.
