This is an excellent casual shoe that combines the best style elements of a traditional boat shoe with an underlying platform and Rollbar construction that you might expect to find on a New Balance walking or athletic shoe. A primary and defining difference is the siped sole and heel. While I have not yet tried them on a slick and slippery wet surface, they look like they would pass muster by providing reasonably firm footing. If you do get into the wet, they are well designed to purge water throgh the footbed webbing and venting ports around the periphery of the sole (though these features will also invite water in!) The sueded leather uppers offer true moccasin construction, with laces that wrap through channels fully around the heel, providing the extra support of a good, firm fit. That the back of the heel is not padded is my only quibble with a shoe that is otherwise well-designed, comfortable and, to my eye, very good looking.
