What are Calluses?
Foot calluses are usually described as a buildup of skin that occurs on the bottoms of our feet; these are comparable to the
calluses we get on the palms of our hands from excessive work. This buildup is an abundance of the outermost layer of our skin,
known as the stratum corneum. This is also known as keratinized tissue, which is the origin of the term hyperkeratosis, the clinical
term for excessive buildup of this skin layer. Corns, on the other hand, are generally used to describe buildup of skin on the tops
or sides of toes.
